Overview
Spend seven nights in Lagos and discover a different side to the Algarve.
Portugal’s southern Algarve region has been a popular holiday destination since the 1960s, thanks to its golden beaches and breathtaking blue seas. The honey-pot towns of Albufeira and Vilamoura are popular for their modern all-inclusive hotels, busy beach clubs and late-night bars.
The southwest city of Lagos is a little different – it manages to strike a balance between modern-day tourism and protecting its seafaring heritage. You’ll be staying in the historic old town, with its attractive maze of narrow cobbled streets, traditional whitewashed townhouses and ornate churches, harking back to a golden era when Lagos was the maritime HQ for Portugal’s Age of Discoveries.
You’ll explore the spectacular southeast coast with our resident guide, with visits to Sagres and Cabo Sao Vicente, heading inland to sample the best Algarve wines at the Quinta Mata Mouros estate. You’ll also spend time at sea with Lagos’ resident dolphins, and you’ll explore the hidden coves and caves of Ponta da Piedade on a guided sea kayaking tour. And as always, we’ll make sure there’s time to relax – the local beaches of Praia da Batata and Praia dos Estudantes are a short walk away.
Thanks to its long-standing popularity, there are daily direct flights to the Algarve from most UK airports – just let us know your closest and we’ll do the rest.
